A working woodworking studio

We opened this workshop in a quiet corner of Seongsu-dong because we wanted a place where furniture could be built without hurry. Every table, board, box, and bowl that leaves the studio has been worked by hand, from selecting the rough board at the timber yard to the final coat of oil rubbed in at the bench. Nothing here is flat-packed, nothing is held together with cam locks, and nothing leaves before the joints close cleanly.

The studio runs on a simple belief: building things with your hands is good for you. It slows you down, it teaches patience, and it leaves you with something honest at the end — a piece that can be handed down rather than thrown out. That's true whether you've been cutting dovetails for twenty years or you're picking up a chisel for the very first time. So alongside our own commissions, we keep the doors open for small workshops, because the shop feels most alive when it's full of people learning.

Everything you see in the gallery below was made in this room, on these benches, from timber we choose to age well over decades: air-dried walnut with a good weight in the hand, quartersawn white oak that shrugs off daily use, cherry that warms to a deep amber, and green ash turned wet on the lathe.
